In the world of tyres, winter tyres hold an important position as many countries around the globe experience heavy snowfall. In these areas, winter tyres are quite famous as they provide comfort and smooth ride but it is not viable to use them in all types of conditions. A single person cannot play all kinds of roles, except for Benedict Cumberbatch, and the rule is the same in the field of tyres.

These days, tyre companies spend lots of money on research and almost all of them produce different types of tyres for different weather conditions. They are –

  • Winter Tyres
  • Summer Tyres Newport
  • All-Season Tyres

Winter Tyres

Winter tyres are designed to deal with snow, rain, ice and dry roads. They have a soft rubber compound that remains supple at low temperatures and provides a better grip on snowy roads. Winter tyres are capable of dispersing the water because of their deep treads which reduces the risk of aquaplaning and helps in maintaining stability. Winter tyres are cost-effective but they wear quickly on warm, dry roads and therefore they are not ideal for +7 degrees Celsius.

Summary Tyres

Summer tyres are useful in places which gets warmer than 7 degree Celsius. They provide smooth grip and great handling on wet and dry roads because of their large tread blocks. These blocks increase the amount of rubber that is in contact with the road which results in better stability.

Summer tyres cwmbran remain steady and firm even at high speed as they are designed with special tread bars which allow a controlled grip.

The rubber compounds in these tyres are harder than other tyre types because heat tends to soften tyre compounds.

All Season Tyres

As the name suggests, these tyres are designed to work efficiently in all seasons. They are designed to provide smooth grip and better handling in all conditions, be it on dry roads in summer or on snowy roads in winter. They come with a durable tread that enhances their performance and lasts longer than other kinds of treads. These tyres are a combination of durable treads and rigid rubber compounds which gives them the quality of both summer and winter tyres. All-season tyres, however, are a bit costly as compared to the other tyres.

DISADVANTAGES OF WINTER TYRES IN HOT WEATHER/SUMMER

Reduced Tyre Life

The first and major disadvantage of using winter tyres in summer is that they cannot bear heat as it softens the rubber compound used in them. It reduces the longevity of the tyres and damages the tread. It is ideal to use Car Tyres Newport only in cool or warm temperatures.

Poor Grip Handling

Winter tyres are designed to provide good traction on snowy roads and wet surfaces because of their hard and deep treads. In summers, it gradually becomes soft and results in a loss in traction and gripping ability of the tyre. In fact, using winter tyres in summer is seen as a compromise with safety by the experts and thus it is not recommended.

Increase In Cost

A tyre that provides good traction and has a great rolling ability consumes low fuel and saves money for the owner. It is as simple as that. Wintery tyres might save you some bucks on snowy roads but since their rolling resistance is high on dry roads, they consume more fuel which burns the pocket.

Problem of Changing The Tyres

Many people believe that all-season tyres are better as compared to winter tyres because once you mount them, there is no need to change your tyres throughout the year. A major problem with winter tyres is that you need to change them in the summers.

CONCLUSION

Winter tyres are better than all-season tyres in winters as they run better on snow and prevent aquaplaning. It is important to know that they are different from snow tyres which are designed to perform strictly on the snowy surface. Winter tyres are a great deal in cold weather but it is not recommended to use them in summers because they have some limitations.
