While Torchlight Infinite is being made to be mobile-friendly It will also launch on PC D2R Items. In an email interview with GameSpot creator Liu Heng said Torchlight Infinite will allow cross-progression.
Players will be able connect their accounts to switch between mobile as well as PC without losing their progress. It will also offer a few enhancements in addition to the mobile version. These include the ability to use more cameras, bigger perspectives, and more control options.
The biggest concern of any free-to play experience and especially one with loot-based content is how it is to be monetized. In that regard, Heng explained that purchases in Torchlight Infinite are broken down into two types. Features like more bag space, talent resets, and auto-looting functionality will be what Heng described as "pay-for-convenience." New heroes, as well as different cosmetics will be available to purchase and come under what Heng claimed is "pay-for-content."
Torchlight Infinite will not sell items or crafting supplies with real money, Heng said. The materials will "strictly grind-to-get" to ensure a fair experience for all players. Heng made it clear it is Torchlight Infinite won't have any stamina meters , or systems which limit progress of players and stated that players will have the "freedom to start and end their grinds whenever they want to."
It's a tangled line to walk. Diablo Immortal, which Torchlight Infinite is likely to be similar to, was critiqued at its debut for its pay-to win mechanics, even as it reportedly made greater than $50m within its first month Diablo 2 Resurrected buy items. Since then, players have complained about the way in which Diablo Immortal's MMO structure punishes gamers who play by themselves, and many finding it difficult to find additional players required to complete the raids or dungeons necessary to development.
