New World Armor Types Guide

Armor in New World are pieces of equipment worn by the player for defense and protective benefits. Each armor piece has a varying set of stats and parameters. Each Armor piece can also provide bonuses to a player's Core Attributes, contain one or more Perks, and an Empty Gem Socket. Armor also changes the appearance of a player for cosmetic purposes. So in this article, let's look at the information on all Armor in New World.

There are three different categories of armor: Light, Medium, and Heavy. The three armor types offer various bonuses, depending on what your character is wearing.

    Light Armor – While wearing Light Armor, your dodge is a quick roll that covers a lot of distance. Light armor tends to be less protective but provides the biggest DPS boost.
    Medium Armor – While wearing Medium Armor, your dodge is a quick hop. This offers a good balance between protection and mobility.
    Heavy Armor – While wearing Heavy Armor, your dodge is a slow sidestep. Heavy armor limits your mobility but offers the best damage mitigation.

Armor can be obtained in several ways: Through Crafting, found as random loot in chests and containers, as random drops by Enemies and Bosses, use new world amazon coins to buy, or as rewards for completing Quests.

Each Armor piece has a few features in common that determine how powerful the armor is: Gear Score, Perks and Gem Sockets.

An Item's Gear Score is an overall gauge of how powerful that item is — the higher the Gear Score, the better the protective capabilities of a piece of armor. An item's Gear Score can also influence the chance of the item dropping with Perks. Armor pieces can drop with up to 3 Perks which are drawn from a pool of potential Perks. Similar kinds of items can function differently depending on the Perks they possess. Occasionally, Armor pieces will drop with an Empty Gem Socket, which can affix the armor piece with a Gemstone. These Gemstones provide a bonus to one or more of the player's Core Attributes and can be socketed into equipment by anyone.

To repair your armor, you need to get repair parts by salvaging your gear. You earn a small amount of new world MMO coins and repair parts every time you salvage a piece of gear. You can then spend those repair parts by repairing specific gear pieces or the repair All button located at the bottom of your screen when you press the Tab key.
