It's that time of year again: it's time for a new installment in the NBA 2K video game series. Of course, we already knew that NBA 2K22 was in the works – if 2K's yearly release schedule wasn't enough of a hint, the company also recently revealed the various cover athletes who will appear in the game. Today, we're getting our first look at the upcoming NBA 2K22 game, which includes our first look at what the game's "gameplay" will be like.

Take it from me: if you hadn't informed me that this was NBA 2K22 right away, I would have had no idea what you were talking about. You could have told me this was NBA 2K21, NBA 2K20, or even NBA 2K17, and I would have believed you because the graphics looked so good. As far as the visuals are concerned, I can't tell if this is anything more than a minor improvement over NBA 2K21.

2K Games, on the other hand, is releasing another NBA 2K MT game this year, just as it has done every year for the past two decades, in the same way that the tide comes in and goes out, just as the sun sets every night and rises again every morning. We don't see any actual gameplay here, despite the fact that this is the gameplay reveal trailer. Instead, we see a series of cinematic shots of various characters. It's a good thing that the main focus isn't the literal in-game casino this time around.

When compared to all of the other  NBA 2K22 trailers that have been floating around the internet, this one is notable for the fact that it features WNBA players for at least a few moments. This is also the first year that a WNBA player will be featured on the cover of an NBA 2K game, as Candace Parker of the Chicago Sky will be featured on the cover of the WNBA 25th Anniversary Special Edition of the game.

Despite the fact that they are not visible in the trailer, the developers of NBA 2K22 are making changes to various systems in the game, including defense, dribbling, and shooting, among others. You can find out more about them on the NBA 2K22 MT Coins website, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for the game's release on September 10th on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
