Candace Parker becomes first woman to appear on the NBA 2K cover. Candace Parker is the first WNBA player to grace the cover of NBA 2K. The Chicago Sky forward NBA 2K Coins, a six-time WNBA All-Star player, a two-time WNBA MVP, and 2016 WNBA Finals MVP will be featured on the cover of the WNBA 25th Anniversary Special Edition of NBA 2K22 which will be released on September 10th.
"I was an avid video gamer, this is what I was, until the point that my siblings would give me fake controllers when I was a kid, and I think I was playing and I didn't," Parker tells ESPN. "I wanted to be like the guys. As a kid, your hopes of owning a pair of shoes and playing in a videogame were a reality. That's what an athlete is as kids' dreams. To be able to witness this, I do not take it lightly."
Three years ago when the WNBA was added to 2K by the NBA 2K20. It's not to be expected that a female basketball player has taken so long to be featured on the cover. This is especially true given that 2K Sports frequently releases multiple versions of the same game with different players. For instance, 2K21 featured Damian Lillard in the last console version and Zion Williamson on Series X and PS5 versions. There was also a unique "Mamba Forever" edition, in honour of Kobe Bryant.
The standard cover will include Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks' star player The NBA 75th Anniversary Edition cover features NBA legends Dirk Nowitzki and Kareem AbdulJabbar Cheap NBA 2K22 MT. There's yet another special edition starring the Washington Wizards' Rui Hachimura and will only be available in Japan.
