Culturally Chicago is very diverse and much acclaimed. If you want food, many World Class restaurants that annually are rated as the best in the world. Many don’t acknowledge it but Chicago is a college town, University of Chicago, Northwestern usually in the top ten ranked schools in the country, plus many more schools to choose from. In museums, Chicago has many. The Art Institute of Chicago is considered as the Best Museums in the world. And the list can go on.
Winning the World Series is so special for many Cubs fans. Many kids become a fan of Chicago Cubs because their parents were one before them. Watching the games, going to the games, discussing favorite players, etc, becomes a way to bond. So, with 108 years between championships, most fans can name a loved one who lived their whole life waiting for ‘their team to win, and it never happened.
My grandmother was a huge fan and used to wear Joe Dimaggio jerseys. She used to wear it every game to show her love for the team. In the end, she was blind so one thing that gave her pleasure in her final years was listening to her beloved Cubs on the radio.
Now, I just love to wear a Javier Baez jersey. I have some jerseys worn by my grandmother framed at home. It amazes me how a game helps your family and friends bond. You can talk about Chicago Cubs even to a stranger in Chicago for hours, that’s how much people love Chicago Cubs.
