BRAC UNIVERSITY

Brac University has global reach, having been founded in 2001 by the internationally famous Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, who created BRAC as the largest NGO in the world.  He wanted to create a major university to educate leaders for Bangladesh and beyond.

.

We are forward looking and aim to help students develop the skills, creativity and resourcefulness to thrive through massive social change and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Students follow a US style liberal arts and sciences programme for breadth and depth of education. There is a residential semester – much appreciated by students – when they live and study together, learning to become self-dependant and develop their capabilities as leaders focusing on serving society.

The University is preparing to move into a fine new campus around the end of 2022– one of the largest buildings in Bangladesh – magnificent and environmentally friendly. It will complement our other sites, including a beautiful 30 acre campus in Savar.

The university has notable schools and institutes, including several renowned around the world for their contribution to academic research and practical action on social issues. The university featured in the Global Top 50 in the Times Higher Impact Rankings 2020 for its work to address poverty. Brac University has a growing list of partnerships with leading universities around the world and is attracting increasing numbers of international students. We also have increasing numbers of international academic partnerships with major universities around the world and have become members notable international university networks.
