I then realized how much material was only straight up left out compared to Animal Crossing Bells every single prior entry and I guess in hindsight I probably should have understood that this was a"we'll finish adding outdated features to the game later" sort of thing. It's not a terrible match, but boy does it pale compared to New Leaf occasionally. Additionally a few of the vacations are actively less interesting than their New Leaf counterparts.
Why do Leif and Kicks only ever visit? Why not fold them in to Nook's Cranny and the Able Sisters respectively? Why does the Museum only have description plaques for art today? No Gyroids to collect? It is just a great deal of small things that actually add up into big things.
And it is particularly true for a string that's iterative for the most part. Good features from previous games are almost always brought to later games. The primary exceptions are gimmicks based on the console or smallish features that are awesome but finally not match changing. NH ditched a lot of series principles which really hurts in the event that you've been a long time fan. I think a good deal of the NH fans haven't played the previous games so that they don't have these features to overlook. That good for them but it feels hollow to me.
Yeah, this is sort of how I have been looking at it lately. Much like, yes it introduced a few really great new thoughts from the manner of outside decorating (which really much resembles the natural next step for the series) and the landscaping tools. The crafting system is a fairly nifty way to provide players sort of Animal Crossing Items For Sale mini-goals. Not ideal but it's a neat idea.
