The vehicle speed transmitter or VSS is an electronic device that converts the rotation of the gearbox into a signal. The lcd speedometer can be used to accurately display your current vehicle speed.
There are usually two types of speed signals, AC sine wave, and Hall effect. Although there are only two types, they can be in different shapes and positions.
Screw-in speed sensors: These sensors are used in older gearboxes with cable drives for rotating mechanical speedometers. These units completely replace cables and are relatively inexpensive. The gears in the gearbox mesh with the drive tangs on the transmitter (usually .104" x.104") and rotate the transmitter to generate a signal.
