Recover gas from the air conditioner
How to recover the gas from the old air conditioning machine to be able to use it in the new one saving time and money?
In an air conditioner, the gas must be recovered before dismantling it, as this will save you having to spend your money on a gas charge, and a machine that is left without gas ends up breaking down.
We will explain a simple way to recover the gas and keep it in the outdoor unit in the compressor.
10 quick steps to recover the gas from the air conditioner
We will follow a few steps to perform a gas recovery in a basic way that anyone can perform without the need for specialized tools.
This method is not the most recommended since we cannot make sure we have recovered all the gas since we will do it without a pressure gauge.
But it's a way that if you don't have a pressure gauge you can do it. Then I indicate the steps to follow.
1.- You must have the following tools: English key, Allen key set.
2.- The first thing is to turn on the air conditioning machine in cold mode and set the temperature to a minimum, to ensure that the compressor starts.
3.- If you look at the keys of the outdoor unit, there are two tubes, one thinner and one somewhat thicker. The thin tube is called "High" and is where the compressed gas goes to the split. The thickest tube called "low" is where the gas returns to the compressor. There will be two nuts that when you remove them with the wrench, you will expose two Allen knuts.
4.- Once the compressor is started and the machine is cooling properly. With the Allen, close the high tube wrench (the new one). To close it, turn the key clockwise. In this way, w will be preventing the gas from leaving towards the split, so it starts to accumulate in the compressor.
5.- As the compressor continues to run, it is sucking all the gas through the low pipe (the thick one).
6.- As we do not have a pressure gauge, we will not be able to know when we empty the machine, but according to the distance between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit, the time will be between 3 and 5 minutes.
7.- Once that time has elapsed, we also close the key of the thick tube, turning the Allen k clockwise, until it is closed and then turn on the air conditioning.
8.- We will have all the gas or most of the gas stored inside the compressor. You could already disassemble the machine to move it, knowing that you will not need to make a new gas load when you reinstall it or if you are going to store it is advisable to always do it with its gas.
Is it worth investing in a technician to recover the gas?
Strongly, YES, because if you are not a handyman or you do not feel like doing it or you do not have the right tools, you will have to call a qualified technician who knows how to do the job well. Since some problems may arise, such as that the compressor is not in very good condition and air conditioner price in Bangladesh
My recommendation is that you call a qualified technician who is professional and with the papers in order since this will ensure that you have the knowledge and tools necessary to be able to perform the work in a professional and fast way.
It is better to invest a little more in a professional technician who in 1 hour will have been able to make the repair, than not to call an unqualified person that although it charges a little less the hour, it will take 2 or 3 hours turning the machine of air conditioning because you don't have the knowledge or don't have the right tools.
