Indeed, it has spent recent years researching new ways to push the frontiers of its business. In 2007 that effort bore fruit in the form of the Master Compressor Extreme LAB watch. This calibre 988C timepiece is designed to keep accurate time for years without requiring repair and without succumbing to any erosion of its moving parts. Even more exciting is that, for the first time, all this has been achieved solely by the impeccable craftsmanship of the watch's gears. The Master Compressor Extreme LAB is unique among all watches ever produced in that it requires no lubrication. This means that the Master Compressor can function even at temperatures below -40 degrees C where the lubricants of an ordinary watch would be frozen into clogging sludge.
The magnificent engineering of Jaeger-LeCoultre's new time piece is matched by the beauty of its realization and the luxury of its features. Set in a case of carbon and titanium and mounted on a gravity-defying tourbillon, the Master Compressor Extreme LAB features a twelve-hour dial that can register the time of two time zones, an am/pm indicator, and a calendar display.
