This reminds me of Animal Crossing New Horizons Items the spongebob episode where squidward moves to the neighborhood with different squids.

This is the reason why I can not play pokemon anymore either. Even in the old games, all the characters are simply cookie cutter"wow I love my friends and Pokemon!" Unless it is among the gangs. I know it makes it a little simpler to appeal to a younger demographic, but games such as Paper Mario or Earthbound have proven that you could have sassy or crude NPC dialogue and kids will still adore it.

Man, have you ever played any of the more recent Pokemon games? If you believed this was a problem in the old games then you haven't seen anything lol

This. NH is likely a fantasy come true for those that are into decorating and terraforming but to me Animal Crossing was about the villagers and their characters because that is what made it exceptional. Sadly this facet is becoming worse with every new iteration.

I don't recall which villager, but on Gamecube I remember one that if you visited him early morning he'd tell you it's too early for visitors and to escape his residence.

Now every villager is your best buddy.

Villagers in Japan consistently were candy, which in turn this was corrected and they became similar to what the japanese version is.

I would like villagers who could be assholes. Or really, villagers who are their own people. Allow me to feel like those are actual characters, not simply artsy cookie-cut satisfaction bots given for me to play with.

The English translation wasn't faithful at all to the original, but man was it great. Nintendo of Japan was impressed that they re translated the translation are released it in Japan.

Then NoA would need to develop it because they are accountable for all of the villagers that were unique in the Cheap Animal Crossing Items GameCube version.
