In the essay, the listing is a discovery (or pre-stage ) strategy in which the author develops a list of words and phrases,
pictures, and ideas. The list can be ordered or unordered.
How to Use Listing
" Listing is probably the simplest pre-writing strategy and is often the first method writers use to generate ideas. Listing means exactly what the name implies — listing your ideas and experiences. First set a time limit for this activity; 5-10 minutes, Then none. Write down as many ideas as you can without stopping to analyze.
"Once you've created your topic list, review the list and choose an item you might want to write about. Now you're ready for the next listing, this time, create a topic-specific list that you've written about as many ideas as possible on a topic you've chosen. albeit in a post-secondary academic ESL writing course, where students are asked to first develop a topic related to modern university life and then write a letter or editorial on the topic. One of the broad topics that came up in the free writing and brainstorming sessions was 'The Benefits and Challenges of Being a College Student.
The items on this preliminary list overlap considerably. However, such a list can offer students concrete ideas for narrowing a broad topic into a manageable scope and choosing a meaningful direction for their writing. An Observation Chart
"One type of list that seems particularly appropriate for poetry writing instruction is the 'observation chart', in which the author creates five columns (one for each of the five senses) and lists all the sensory images associated with the topic. Composition instructor Ed. Reynolds [in Confidence in Writing, 1991] ] writes: 'His columns force you to pay attention to all your senses so that they can help you make a more comprehensive and specific observation. We are used to relying on our opinion, but smells, tastes, sounds, and touch can sometimes give us more important information about a subject.
After reading more questions than answers
This is the second sign that you have low-quality information. Writing tips from different rewrite gurus raise a lot of questions. They say what to do but are silent on exactly how it is done. But for beginners, both are important. And if there are no tips on how to perform the different steps, such knowledge is worthless and not worth spending valuable time on it. It's just a piece, but I've read the whole text, and nowhere can I find step-by-step instructions on how to write from the heart to get a lively article. And this advice is given to beginners who have never worked with text! Agree, here we need not feelings, but specific instructions: what and how to do for the desired result. The author himself does not know the rules that allow you to compose interesting and lively texts. But he tries to teach others. If instead of specific answers to questions are given streamlined suggestions that you can't make to the point,
don't waste your time with them - they won't teach you anything.
