One of the little talked about postpartum signs is postpartum hair loss, at times termed postpartum dropping. This is a traditional postpartum illness.
While breastfeeding is often accused of hair loss, there is no proof that breastfeeding affects or enhances hair loss in the postpartum period. Unfortunately, this is a sign that almost all moms will undergo. While this state can become severe is called Postpartum Alopecia, some hair loss is common and a normal part of postpartum.
You may have seen that your hair seemed great, fuller, and more energetic during your pregnancy than at other times. One of the beliefs is that you are likely taking fetal vitamins, which help your hair look its best. The other goal is that when you are pregnant, your hair goes into a latent cycle, and you spend less hair. This is termed the telogen stage.
Finally, your hair will go into the next stage, telogen effluvium, and fall out. The hair loss and regrowth will most likely be in the area above your forehead. Therefore, when you have a kid, you start spending all of the hair that you did not lose when you were pregnant. If you got a lot of extra hair when you were pregnant, this could seem quite exciting.
Most moms will undergo this sign somewhere around three months postpartum hair loss. It can last some weeks or some months, depending on how long your hair cycles last. Usually, moms forget that they are still held postpartum by this point and do not think to relate birth to this sign.
What do you do about it? First, take a deep breath and remind yourself that this is common. Next, go to the store and spend in a great static mop. You will find it easier to clean up that extra hair off the bathroom floor if you have a great tool. While you are there, be sure to select few cute headbands and hair clips.
If you see notable dropping in one area, try dividing your hair in a particular place. A zig-zag part can hide several sins. You might ask your hairstylist to add some highlights or lowlights to add some intensity to reducing hair. Also, retain to ask your practitioner about sustaining your fetal vitamins, notably if you are breastfeeding.
Dealing With Hair Regrowth
Think asking your stylist to cut some stripes into your hair. This makes it less clear that you are encountering hair regrowth. If you see a new set of bangs, grasp those headbands and hair clips to keep the fewer hairs out of your eyes at the face of your head. You might take this as a time to add hits if you did not already have them. A new haircut might assist if you were holding a bit frumpy postpartum hair loss, anyway.
Usually, when your hair starts to thin, you have already had your postpartum hair loss checkup with your surgeon or assistant. If your dropping becomes severe or you lose large spots of hair, call your doctor and discuss it. Irregular hair loss is a sign of other postpartum problems, like hypothyroidism.
