Dhaka south city BNP mayoral candidate Ishraque Hossain on Friday urged the voters to go to polling centres fearlessly, adding that BNP leaders and activists would not occupy the polling centres but would guard theseso that the voters could cast their votes without any hindrance.
Talking to reporters after a pre-scheduled meeting with US embassy’s political-cum-economic officer Bernt Cristensen at Bay Tower in Gulshan, he said that he had informed him about the overall situation of the election and his fear about the election.
He said that the US embassy officer also met with his rival candidate.
Ishraque said that he had informed the US diplomat about his fear regarding the use of electronic voting machines, ruling Awami League’s miscreants gathering in Dhaka and their bid to occupy polling centres.
He said that a mass wave had occurred in favour of ‘sheaf of paddy’ and, seeing this, the ruling party might try to occupy the polling centres to neutralise the mass wave outcome.
He also claimed that the BNP candidates were 80 per cent ahead of their rival candidates.
