After visiting the party’s hospitalised general secretary, Obaidul Quader, at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University hospital, he said that the more voters will be at the polling centres the more will be the votes for the Awami League.
Besides, hours before the elections, Atiqul met prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the Ganabhaban on Friday evening to take herblessings, AL leaders said.
Atiqul also posted on his Facebook page a picture of him with the prime minister, also president of the ruling Awami League.
AL’s south city mayoral candidate Fazle Noor Taposh did not make any statement in the media on Friday.
He, however, exchanged greetings with people in Dhanmodi after offering the Jumma prayer at Faridabad Jame Mosque in the area.
Later, he also visited Quader at the hospital.
