He said that the voting materials, including the EVMs, had been sent to every polling station.
‘The polling officers confirmed to me that there was no fear of violence and irregularities,’ he said.
He also said that the law-enforcement agencies were performing their duties in their own ways as per the instructions of the commission.
When asked about the allegation that police personnel ousted opposition polling agents, the CEC said that he would like to request the polling agents to hold to their positions strongly and not to leave the polling centres ordered by any people.
Though there is no possibility of such incidents taking place, agents should seek help from the returning officers and executive magistrates if any such incident takes place, he said.
He said that the commission asked the law enforcers to protect the polling agents.
He also dismissed the possibility of rigging through the EVMs.
About the BNP’s allegation over the lack of level-playing field, the CEC said that the allegation was untrue as the BNP did their electioneering successfully.
